When I was growing up, peanut butter
and jelly sandwiches were the way to go.
We usually had the Welch’s Concord grape jelly and many varieties of
peanut butter. It was usually Skippy’s or Jiff, which looking at today, I am surprised
that my body hasn’t given up a few years ago.
Have you seen what is in those?
Well, my wife, bless hear heart, woke me up. Since we were first married she would only
buy Adam’s peanut butter, the kind that has the oil at the top when you buy it
and you have to stir it into the peanut butter and then you store, it has to be
in the refrigerator. The reason is doesn’t
have preservatives in it, like the other brands. Those you can keep out or put in a shelf in
your cabinets for an unknown time and it will never go bad…when maybe not
unknown. I remember it wouldn’t last
long at our home; we had five kids and two parents that were PB&J aficionados
when it came to that favorite staple. I
remember eating it for dinner when I was running solo (bachelor). It had it all, the fruit, (ha-ha more sugar)
and the protein, peanuts… Sometimes we would add margarine to the mix. Can you imagine all of those preservatives? Laughingly, I told my brothers and sister,
that when we go to the “far beyond” if they would ever dig us up, they would
find perfectly preserved human, just looking at them with a big smile on our
face and a dab of peanut butter on the corner of our mouths. (That doesn’t
sound to eye appealing)…but I think you get the point. It is sort of funny when you think about
it. Well back to the topic of this
post. Nutella, here is what is in it. (sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, whey (milk), lecithin as emulsifier (soy),
vanillin: an artificial flavor). They says you
can tell you how healthy the food products is by the first few ingredients…in
this case...pretty bad. But, at least
there I can see it…hazelnuts, is that anything like peanuts?
Well now that I see them, I remember
them. I use to love those at Christmas time;
because they were the easiest to open…where’s my hammer…you must remember to
take off a little piece of the outside of the nut, because it is very bitter. So that’s one of the main ingredients of
Nutella. That tells me a lot. The only
part I don’t like is the first ingredients of Sugar and them Palm Oil. (Talk about
cholesterol). At least it has some redeeming value in it…skim milk. What is lecithin as emulsifier mean again? Oh
yeah and the famous “artificial flavors”, that tells me a lot. I think I am
being set up for a disaster. But, we
will see. I have a few Nutella recipes
and some Peanut butter recipes. You tell
me which one you like the best. . I
think they both have it going. The 15 Best Nutella Recipes Ever

Sweet & Spicy Bacon Coated with Nutella
We have constantly professed our
love for bacon in the past, so it goes without saying that this was easily the

up a solid batch of bacon, we were a bit hesitant to smother it in Nutella, but
it was well worth it.
5.
Nutella Donuts
If we had to pick one breakfast food

Personally we prefer sweet over
savory when it comes to crepes. They’ve always been more of a dessert food in
our eyes, so this recipe was a match made in heaven. It’s worth noting that

you’ll thank us later. [View Recipe]

we’ve ever had. [View Recipe]
We
warned you that we had an affinity for donuts, which means we had to find a

the sugar donut with cream or jelly, these have been filled with Nutella.
Definitely not part of a balance breakfast, not that we care one bit. [View Recipe]

Some people prefer French Toast over
